Traditional Recipe for Herbal Shampoo

🌿 Herbal Shampoo Formulation with Decoction Method

Using Shampoowala’s 2X Concentrated Shampoo Base


Phase 1: Herbal Decoction (Boiled Herb Water) – 35.00%

Ingredients for boiling (total dry herbs: ~5–8%)

  • Reetha (Soapnut) – 2.0%
  • Shikakai – 2.0%
  • Bhringraj – 1.0%
  • Neem Leaves – 1.0%
  • Amla – 1.0%
  • Water – 35.0%

How to prepare decoction:

  1. Boil all the herbs in water for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Let it cool and strain using a muslin cloth.
  3. Filter the decoction again through a fine mesh or paper filter for clarity.

Phase 2: Base – 50.00%

  • 2X Concentrated Shampoo Base – 50.0%
    (This is added after the decoction cools down.)

Phase 3: Enriching Extracts – 5.00%

  • Aloe Vera Extract (Liquid/Gel) – 2.0%
  • Brahmi Extract – 1.0%
  • Methi (Fenugreek) Extract – 1.0%
  • Green Tea Extract – 1.0%

Phase 4: Conditioning & Moisture – 4.00%

  • Panthenol – 0.5%
  • Glycerin – 2.0%
  • Guar Conditioner – 0.5%
  • Honey (optional, cosmetic grade) – 1.0%

Phase 5: Add-ons – 6.00%

  • Preservative – 1.0% (e.g., Geogard ECT or equivalent)
  • Fragrance/Essential Oil – 0.5 to 1.0%
  • Color – q.s. (optional)
  • Citric Acid Solution (10%) – to adjust pH to 5.0–5.5

🔄 Method:

  1. Prepare the herbal decoction and cool it completely.
  2. In a separate sanitized vessel, take the 2X Shampoo Base.
  3. Slowly add the cooled decoction to the base while stirring gently.
  4. Add the extracts, then moisturizing and conditioning agents.
  5. Add fragrance, preservative, and color (if using).
  6. Adjust pH with citric acid solution to 5.0–5.5.
  7. Let it rest for 24 hours before packaging.
